There is no better way to help decide on your choice of golf club than to hear what other new members say - this is a comment from one such new member.
"When I was looking to join a local golf club I did all the usual things like look at their websites, play the courses and speak to the clubs. It's an important decision and I took my time because I wanted to make sure I was going to enjoy my golf and was going to fit in.
I was new to the area and so did not know any members but chose Chigwell not just because it is the best course around but the people there went out of their way to make me feel welcome.
I have not been a member for that long but already feel I belong and have made many new friends. I love the whole range of golf from serious competitions to friendly four balls, the mixed matches and the occasional fun cross country events. There are no pre-booked tee times, even at weekends, so I play more or less when I want and although I did not know anyone to begin with it was so easy to get a game. There are a number of roll-ups where I just turn up and get drawn with playing partners and now there's a "game-finder" on the members website to arrange a game online.
The social events are a lot of fun. There are parties, summer BBQ's and sometimes the more formal occasion. These are so popular they are nearly always oversubscribed so it's important to keep my eyes open for up and coming social events." Chigwell member
